La inteligencia artificial generativa en la biblioteca médica: transformando el acceso al conocimiento y el rol profesional
Main Article Content
Abstract
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) is radically transforming information management, offering significant potential for medical libraries. These institutions can optimize their internal operations through intelligent collection management, automation of routine tasks such as report, generation or email delivery, and enhanced research support. For users, AI promises advanced search capabilities, specialized virtual assistants, personalized learning, and information analysis tools.
Far from replacing librarians, AI is redefining their role, requiring literacy in this technology, skills in prompt engineering, critical evaluation of tools, and leadership in ethical implementation. Despite key challenges, such as information accuracy, algorithmicbias, data privacy, costs, and the need for continuous updating, generative AI represents an opportunity for medical libraries to enhance their services. It fosters effective collaboration between human and artificial intelligence, positioning these libraries as innovative hubs.
